06. Masamune Kuns Revenge S2

Genre: Romance.Comedy

We all know how it seems Masamune-kun has: “returned to this town for revenge!” Officially titled Masamune-kun’s Revenge , this second season looks set to continue the story developed in the first.

The protagonist is Makabe Masamune, a weak and chubby boy who’s rejected cruely by the beautiful Adagaki Aki. After losing weight, changing his name and returning as a handsome heartthrob, Makabe’s plan is to make Aki fall in love with him so that he can reject her just as harshly as she did, is in full swing. The storyline continues moving through the second season.

The second season of Masamune-kun’s Revenge takes place right after the first season, with Masamune and his friends heading off on a class trip to Paris. Things change when Masamune begins to realize that his anger towards Aki may have been mislaid all along, but it’s hard to know if those changes will be for better or worse.

It doesn’t help that Kanetsugu is still very much in his way, but at least with more information about what really happened the night of the infamous “pig’s foot” incident, Masamune has everything he needs to decide how to proceed with Aki and his revenge plan.

05. Rent A Girlfriend (RAG) S3

Genre: Romance.Comedy

Season two of Rent A Girlfriend was undoubtedly in the running for the most monotonous season. Somehow it managed to introduce an interesting conflict at the very last minute, the preceding 11 episodes were just likely a waste of time, going through the various girls of the cast while Kazuya screamed inside his head about how pretty and amazing they all were. Unless you had a taste for highly watered-down rom-com grotesques that are not as exciting  you could skip most of that season and not miss a thing.

According to some people their expections were shattered .RAG's third season manages to put together a pretty compelling romantic drama at last addressing the most tiresome flaws of its male lead while finding an effective narrative focus to center all its grotesques around. Still, if you're a viewer generous enough to stick around hoping for all that fabled character development for Kazuya and his for hire lady love, there's a lot to enjoy here.

Kazuya and Chizuru's relationship has somehow gotten more complicated. On top of their rental arrangement and pretending to be in love around each other's families, they've now committed to making a movie together, hoping to fulfill a promise to Chizuru's ailing grandmother before she passes. It's a steep challenge, but for the first time in his life Kazuya is driven to make something happen for someone else, and he'll rope in every favor, friend, and girlfriend necessary to make his Rent-a-Girlfriend's dream a reality.

04. Zom 100

Genre: Action.Comedy

Instead of capitulating to fear, Akira sees this as an opportunity to experience life to the fullest rather than settle for his mundane existence. He decides to create a bucket list of everything he wants to do before dying in order to not only experience it direct but also to show that he is still alive and well. This decision is made with a newfound sense of purpose.

With the happy company of his friend, Kencho, Akira embarks on a number of exciting and frequently bizarre excursions throughout the zombie-infested city. Their pranks range from simple pleasures like eating at expensive restaurants for free to more profilgate pursuits like going on roller coasters and visiting haunted houses.

Akira and Kencho come across other survivors who have their own motivations for surviving as they make their way through the dangerous streets surging with zombies. Along the journey, they forge odd alliances, face their own anxieties, and learn the importance of friendship and the human spirit's ability to be persistent in the face of difficulty.

03. Horimiya Pieces

Genre: Comedy.Romance

Horimiya: The Missing Pieces was conceived to bridge the gaps left by the first season of the anime. While the initial season was an exciting and huge success, it had to omit significant portions of the manga's narrative. This new season brings to life some of the manga's most pivotal and emotionally charged moments, enriching the overall storyline.

For those who haven't yet experienced the charm of Horimiya, now is the perfect time to dive into this heartwarming romantic comedy. Horimiya's narrative revolves around the unanticipated connection between Kyouko Hori, a smart and popular high school student, and Izumi Miyamura, her seemingly ill-lit and unassuming classmate. Their unique journey explores the complicated nature of relationships and human personalities.

Admired at school for her friendly attitude and academic achievements, high school student Kyouko Hori has been hiding another side of herself. With her parents often away from home due to work, Hori also has to look out after her younger brother and do the housework, leaving no opportunities to make friends and socialize outside of school. Meanwhile, Izumi Miyamura is seen as a brooding, glasses-wearing, otaku. In reality, he is a gentle person hopeless at studying. He also has nine piercings hidden behind his long hair and a tattoo along his back and left shoulder.

Coincidentally Hori and Miyamura cross paths outside school, neither looking as the other expects. As it happens to be the opposite of what both of their school life personality looks like. They end up befriending and share among themselves the opposite sides which no one knows.

01. Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK) S2

Genre: Fantasy.Action

The world of Jujutsu Kaisen consists of terrifying spirits, haunting curses, and powerful sorcerers. As fantastical as all those concepts may be, JJK's mythology is complex enough to make them always feel convincing. As a shonen battle series, Jujutsu Kaisen definitely prioritizes the action, but it does so without sacrificing its focus on story or world-building in the process.

Jujutsu Kaisen was the highest-selling manga of 2023.The series follows Yuji Itadori, a high schooler who vows to live by the words of his dying grandfather “Always help others” and “die surrounded by people.” In a world of cursed spirits, Itadori’s friends in the make the mistake of attracting cursed spirits to their school.
